Experienced goalie wants to stay at Kenilworth Road James Shea, a longtime Luton keeper, is eager to stay at Kenilworth Road after learning that his contract will expire this summer.

In Sunday’s 4-2 loss to Fulham, the 32-year-old made his Premier League debut by substituting for the last 15 minutes of play. The former Arsenal and AFC Wimbledon goalie, who has been with the team since the summer of 2017, made his 108th appearance for Town. He was awarded the Golden Glove award when Luton won the League One championship in 2019.

Shea wants to stay with the club despite being Tim Krul’s and Thomas Kaminski’s third choice this term. In an interview with BBC Three Counties Radio, he stated, “I’ve loved every single minute here.” We’ll see what happens after the season, but I’m up at the end. I want to be here, but you never know until something is delivered, sealed, and signed.”

Although Jack Walton, who assisted Dundee United in winning the Scottish Championship while on loan this season, may provide Shea with even more competition, manager Rob Edwards seems determined to keep the well-liked goalie at Kenilworth Road, stating: “It’s something that’s ongoing.” We’ve had some insightful conversations; he is aware of my opinions. I hope, but I don’t want to give too much away just now.
