Winnipeg Blue Bombers and defensive tackle Jake Thomas reached a consensus on a one-year contract extension, binding him to the team until the culmination of the 2024 season.

Jake Thomas, standing at six feet two inches and weighing 274 pounds, hails from Douglas, New Brunswick. The 33-year-old showcased his prowess on the field during the 2023 season, contributing significantly with 17 tackles and five sacks across 18 games for the Blue Bombers. Notably, Thomas was drafted by the Blue Bombers in the fourth round, securing the 29th pick in the 2012 CFL Draft.

Thomas has been an integral part of the Blue Bombers’ success, notably contributing to their Grey Cup championships in 2019 and 2021. Over his ten seasons in Winnipeg, Thomas has amassed an impressive stat line, boasting 165 tackles, four tackles on special teams, 31 sacks, one interception, and four forced fumbles in a total of 186 games.

During his collegiate years, Thomas honed his skills at Acadia University from 2008 to 2011. His contributions during this period include 115.5 tackles, 18 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 32 games for the Axemen. The contract extension solidifies Thomas’ continued association with the Blue Bombers, ensuring his continued presence on the team as they strive for further success in the upcoming seasons.
