UPDATED: Parramatta Eels youngster is ready to explore the open market.

He is able to receive offers from rival clubs.

A Parramatta Eels rookie has reportedly decided on his future after making his debut earlier this season and was recalled to the team this week to replace the absent Clinton Gutherson.

Blaize Talagi, a rising star and Gutherson’s natural successor at fullback, may leave the club earlier than planned after Ethan Sanders departs. According to The Daily Telegraph, club officials acknowledged that he has decided to test the market and has refused his player option for the 2025 season.

This means the young sensation may attract bids from other teams, but the Eels have told The Daily Telegraph that they are also determined to keep him at the club. Coach Brad Arthur is reportedly a great fan of Talagi’s. The utility back, who can play fullback, centre, or halves, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects coming through the ranks. Talagi was promoted to the Parramatta Eels Top 30 roster at the start of the season and has been with the club since 2020. He has gained representative honours by being named for the U16 NSW City and U18 City teams in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

Talagi, a future NRL star, is one of Parramatta’s top prospects, having represented the club in the Andrew Johns Cup, Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball Cup, and Jersey Flegg Cup. He played five games in the SG Ball tournament last year, helping the club win the title alongside halfback Ethan Sanders, before moving on to the Jersey Flegg Cup team, where he appeared in seven games and scored two tries.
