The Vancouver Canucks are currently dealing with a minor injury problem.

The most notable is that Thatcher Demko, the great goalie, is still off the ice after suffering an injury during a Winnipeg Jets game. This morning, he was placed retrospectively on long-term injury reserve (LTIR), which means that April 6 is the earliest date of his comeback.

Rick Tocchet explained the roster change after practice, saying, “That’s just cap-related, so we can get some cap relief, that’s all it is.” Using the additional cap space, the squad called up Arshdeep Bains.

Demko can now play in a maximum of six eligible games this season due to the switch to LTIR. Tocchet claims that despite this, there is no need to worry that the goalie won’t have enough time in the six games to prepare for the postseason.

“He will play two or three games and then prepare for the postseason,” Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK stated on the Donnie & Dhali Show today. Demko is nothing to be afraid of. He isn’t allowed to play until April 6; after that, they’ll work things out. That’s good to hear; Demko will be alright. Demko won’t be in trouble; he’ll be prepared for the postseason.

Additionally, the Jack Adams contender gave an update on forward Elias Lindholm. The Swedish center back was still recovering from an injury, thus he did not play in the previous game.

“I’m not really worried. “I believe it’s just a minor nagging issue that’s improving daily,” Tocchet said following practice on Wednesday.

The head coach answered, “No, not to the best of my knowledge, I would say no,” when asked if he was concerned that additional testing will turn up a more serious injury.

Additionally, Tocchet stated that there is “no timeline” for Lindholm’s comeback at this time.

“They’re still working on it,” Dhaliwal stated in today’s report. “I’ve just heard a lot of ambiguity surrounding Lindholm.”

Dakota Joshua returned to full participation in practice today, marking one player return for the Canucks from injury. It’s still unclear if the winger, who was skating on the team’s top line, will be in the lineup tomorrow night.

“We discussed it a little today, so we’ll wait a day to decide if he plays tomorrow or not,” Tocchet said. “I’m going to sleep on it with him.”

Two of the greatest clubs in the Western Conference, the Canucks and the Stars, square off. There are only ten games left before the playoffs start.

“10 games remain. It’s game time. You now have to take care of a few details most of the time. The head coach declared today, “This is not November hockey.”

Halfway through today’s practice, Tocchet halted it and gave the players an impassioned, profanity-filled speech in front of the whiteboard. When questioned about what had happened, he appeared to have received the answer he was hoping for.

“I believe some guys weren’t prepared. You need to be prepared to go since we had the day off. After that, they took it up with ten games remaining. Regarding the circumstance, he stated, “That’s all, no big deal.”
