This two new additions by the Birmingham Stallions will improve defensive depth

On Thursday, the Birmingham Stallions inked UFL contracts with defensive end Jonathan Garvin and outside linebacker Maalik Hall.

The Birmingham Stallions directed their free agency signings’ attention towards defence for the second day in a row. On Thursday, the team added outside linebacker Maalik Hall and defensive end Jonathan Garvin. Garvin was previously selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his three seasons as a player, he recorded 1.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and 38 tackles for the Packers. He totaled 106 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one block in 38 games over his three seasons with the Miami Hurricanes.

The New York Jets released Hall last month after he was placed on injured reserve for the 2023 campaign. His career ended with 154 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, three pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one block in 43 games over his five seasons as a player at Southeastern Oklahoma State.

In order to bolster their secondary, the Stallions also added cornerback Isaiah Zuber on Wednesday. Chris Orr, a fellow linebacker, announced his official retirement from football on Wednesday. Hall is most likely his replacement. Teams in the UFL have one week to finalise their roster choices before they must have 50 players by March 23.
