The Trade Steelers had on the Table During the NFL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were on the phone during the NFL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to secure the 20th pick, which provided them with a multitude of alternatives. They had a large portion of their first-round draft board available, including Graham Barton, Cooper DeJean, and eventual pick Troy Fautanu. However, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN, general manager Omar Khan called up the Seattle Seahawks in an attempt to secure an earlier selection.

According to sources, the Seahawks were considering trade-back alternatives with the Pittsburgh Steelers (20th selection), Philadelphia Eagles (22nd), Minnesota Vikings (23rd), Green Bay Packers (25th), and Atlanta Falcons (43rd). Henderson wrote.

The Seahawks did not make the move and instead selected Byron Murphy, but Khan later told the media that attempting to trade up would have resulted in the same guy being selected. “We were working the phones, hoping there was an opportunity to draft Troy,” Khan remarked on the Pat McAfee Show. “Fortunately, he remained at 20 when we were unable to reach an agreement. But we acquired him at 20, and I can’t tell you how happy we are to have him. “He is a Steeler.”

While the organisation was concerned that they would not be able to land the player they desired and thus attempted a trade up, the QB craze resulted in a big number of non-QB possibilities on the board for the Steelers to consider.

With the Steelers taking Fautanu at 20, they were able to make a selection they were happy about without giving up either player or draft capital.
