Miami tight end Cam McCormick returns to play his final year of college football | Fox News

The Miami Hurricanes will have their best tight end returning for a further campaign in 2023.

On Thursday, Cam McCormick made the announcement on his X account that this would be his “last ride.”

He’ll be playing collegiate football for the eighth season. In 2016, the Bend, Oregon native signed a contract with the Oregon Ducks. In 2023, he moved to Miami in order to rejoin Mario Cristobal, the head coach of the Hurricanes.

Throughout his career, McCormick has had to endure obstacles due to injuries. He had an ankle injury in 2018, and he missed most of 2019 and 2020. Early in 2021, he sustained an Achilles tendon injury that ended his season. He has been able to prolong his career in the NCAA by receiving many medical redshirts.

In 2023, he started 11 games for Miami at tight end. His main contribution was as a blocker. He caught eight passes for sixty-two yards. Pro Football Focus gave him a stellar run blocking grade of 78.7.

At Miami, McCormick stays in a fully furnished tight end room. Riley Williams, Jackson Carver, and Elijah Arroyo are back, and Elijah Lofton, a true freshman, will join the Hurricanes.
