Under Spanish manager Marti Cifuentes, QPR is making progress towards safety and is striving to keep their Championship position.
Under Cifuentes, QPR has improved significantly, despite their difficult position in the Championship league. The R’s are now in 22nd place, but they are only one point below Millwall since the Lions are about to fire Joe Edwards.
Naturally, maintaining their Championship position is West London’s top aim, but they will also be watching the summer. Some players will inevitably move on, maybe without donning the renowned hoops once more.
Having stated that, the following three QPR players might have played their final game for the team:
Joe Walsh
Walsh, a 21-year-old goalkeeper, has spent the majority of this season as QPR’s backup goalie in addition to an emergency stay at Accrington Stanley in League Two. After this season, he may find himself elsewhere, but he is a talented custodian who can certainly hold down a regular berth in the Football League in the future.
His contract is up, thus it’s doubtful that he’ll play for Cifuentes until Asmir Begovic or Jordan Archer get injured.
Charlie Kelman
Senior game time has been essential for American prospect Kelman, who turned 22 in November. Under Cifuentes, he had a few chances, but he failed to seize them, and in his 26 QPR games, he has not scored.
Taylor Richards
Richards, who will still be under contract for two years come July, is an intriguing addition. Although he has shown promise in his 21 QPR appearances, he hasn’t played frequently since signing on a first loan in July 2022 due to a variety of reasons.
Richards hasn’t participated in a matchday since Boxing Day, so maybe a fresh challenge in the summer would help him reach his full potential.
