A summation of quarterback’s statement following the Russell Wilson deal and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ departure

After playing his whole career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, quarterback Kenny Pickett was moved to the Philadelphia Eagles last week. He has finally spoken out about his departure.

In response to his trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kenny Pickett has stated publicly that he has no ill will towards his former team.

During the 25-year-old’s first press conference as an Eagle on Monday, he described how he thought he handled his release from the Steelers.

Pickett told reporters, “I think the communication is what it is.” Behind closed doors, that is. I’m happy with how I handled it. I responded to it as I ought to have responded. It makes me happy to be here.

“I ended up arriving in Philadelphia because everything worked out so perfectly. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that I am in the correct place at the right time.”

Following the signal caller’s parting address to Pittsburgh, but not to the Steelers organisation, Pickett made his remarks. Russell Wilson was signed by the Steelers, and it was said that Pickett was upset about it since the quarterback was reportedly treating Wilson’s arrival “poorly.”

“Thank you, Pittsburgh!” On his personal Instagram feed, Pickett posted. “My life completely changed seven years ago when I moved to this city. Thankful for everyone who helped me along the way and for the incredible people I had the good fortune to meet.

“Now that I have the chance to play for the team that first inspired me to love the game as a child, I am honoured and eager for the next chapter in my career. “Go, Birds!”

Pickett, who was selected 20th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, has struggled to maintain consistency and physical fitness. Pickett has a 14–10 record in 24 games as a starter while throwing for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

The young quarterback said it was a “good reset” and that it was time for him to move on and become the best version of himself, even though he will play for the Eagles the next season. Pickett said, “I just felt like it was time.” “I just felt like it was time after everything that had happened, and I wanted to have the opportunity to move on and advance in my career.”

“The fact that it’s in Philly, the place where I grew up, found a love for the game here, with a great coaching staff, great players, I’m looking forward to meeting these guys in a couple weeks when everyone gets back into town. But I think it’s an awesome opportunity here to join this team.”

In Philadelphia, Pickett will be the backup quarterback to Jalen Hurts. Hurts has proven to be the undisputed starter, leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2022, and has shown a knack for staying fit, despite being one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.

Even though they are the same age, Pickett could learn a lot from Hurts. Especially now that his time with the Steelers has ended the way it did.
