  • Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish held a secret meeting with Oliver Glasner
  • Glasner, who looks set to become the Eagles boss, was at Tottenham’s defeat

A recent story claims that guests disrupted Steve Parish’s private discussion with Oliver Glasner over the Crystal Palace manager’s position.

When Eagles manager Roy Hodgson was still in the hospital, the chairman of Crystal Palace allegedly met Glasner for the first time in person on Friday night at a hotel in London.

The Austrian coach is apparently eager to take on the Premier League, particularly the challenge at Selhurst Park, and is available to salvage Crystal Palace’s season.

Parish and Glasner met at the Hilton Hotel in Greenwich, southeast London, according to The Sun. Before Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship match against Millwall, which the Owls won 2-0, players from the Sheffield Wednesday team, who were also staying in the same building, noticed them.

With only three victories in their previous 19 games, the Eagles have had a terrible recent run that has left them in 16th place, five points above the relegation zone.

It sparked widespread rumors that Hodgson might lose his job with the Eagles, and on Thursday morning, he passed out during first-team practice.

Hodgson reportedly offered to attend Monday night’s Everton match despite being admitted to the hospital, presumably in exchange for assistance from the directors’ box. However, there has been no formal confirmation as of yet, as they await confirmation of the results of their health exams.

The 49-year-old Glasner was there at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the home team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wolves. On March 2, the two London teams will square off.

Being a free agent, Glasner has been connected to several Premier League positions, most notably Nottingham Forest after Steve Cooper was fired two months ago.

Before moving to Wolfsburg in 2019, he served as coach at SV Reid and LASK, two of his previous teams.

He moved to fellow Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt after two fruitful years there, where he won the Europa League in 2022 before departing the team in June of last year.
