Newcastle United have been dealt a fresh injury scare ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

A new injury concern was raised for Newcastle United during their Thursday night loss to Everton.

Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Beto scored goals in the final 20 minutes to give the Magpies a 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park. Club captain Jamaal Lascelles hobbled off in the closing moments.

Although United head coach Eddie Howe played down the severity of the injury, Lascelles will have little time to recover with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur next up on Sunday.

“I don’t think it’s a serious one,” Howe revealed. “I think it’s a dead leg which is a knock to his thigh I think. Fingers crossed he’ll be OK but I don’t know at this moment.”

Lascelles adds to the Magpies’ growing injury list, which currently stands at a staggering 13 players, including the suspended Sandro Tonali.

As a result, Howe was forced to name another depleted bench consisting of two goalkeepers, three under-21s players, plus Paul Dummett, Lewis Hall, Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie.
