Harvey Barnes spoke to Match of The Day about his return from injury during Newcastle’s 4-4 draw with Luton: “[I was] Excited really. I have been out for a long time and it has been a tough period for me. I’ve got a bit of making up to do, making up for lost time. I just wanted to come on and make an impact and I did but it wasn’t enough to win the game. But it is great being back out there.
“There will be a little bit of rust for a little bit but that goal will give me the world of confidence going forward and hopefully I can build on that and the team can build on that. There are still a lot of positives to take.”
On Newcastle’s form, Barnes added: “I think we are getting there. We are starting to get back to our best. There are definitely improvements and the week-to-week games will give us a chance to work on that on the training pitch.
“We are going to have more coming back fit and there is a really good chance for us to have a string finish to the season. We want to be pushing as much bas we can towards those top spots. We know we are capable of having a good run so we will keep pushing.”
