Leeds United are likely to be in the market for a new winger or two after waving goodbye to Crysencio Summerville, but one wide man linked with Elland Road is closing in on a move to Ipswich Town.
Summerville’s £25m move to West Ham sees Leeds left with just Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James on the flanks, after Jaidon Anthony returned to Bournemouth and Ian Poveda left the club to join Sunderland.
Leeds are being strongly linked with a move for Norwich City’s versatile Jonathan Rowe this summer, but Leeds are aware a deal for Rowe will be difficult. The England U21 is in the final year of his Norwich deal.
But another winger the Whites were said to be interested in signing is now set for a move to England, but it isn’t a move that sees the player in question end up at Elland Road in the coming weeks, but Ipswich.
Namely, Ryan Kent. The winger joined Fenerbahce from Rangers last summer but it is a move that has not worked out, as Jose Mourinho ‘green lights’ the player’s exit with a fee of £2.5m said to be enough.
Leeds were said to have made a £2.5m ‘offer’ for Kent, but that has been down played by the Evening Post. Now, Turkish outlet Haber Ekspres say Premier League side Ipswich are closing in on a deal for Kent.
The winger, who has “incredible speed” according to former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, is the subject of talks and after Fenerbahce accepted a £2.5m Ipswich bid, a deal should go through soon.
