Running back being back with the Birmingham Stallions has C. J. Marable feeling quite content. His eagerness to return to Birmingham and perform for the audience is contagious.

Marable remarked, “I miss Birmingham.” I simply enjoy being in the company of people. They come out and help us; they show up, they show love.

It appears that CJ misses Alabama because the Stallions as they currently exist and practise in Arlington, Texas.

Marable said, “You know how much I loved being in Alabama? I definitely miss Alabama.”

Marable attended Presbyterian and Coastal Carolina colleges to play football. During his collegiate tenure, he amassed 2,872 yards and 33 touchdowns in running, 833 yards and 14 touchdowns in receiving, and 311 yards in returner play.

On May 14, 2021, Marable was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent. At the conclusion of training camp on August 24, 2021, he was waived.

The Birmingham Stallions selected Marable in the 28th round of the 2022 USFL draft. Regretfully, on May 20, 2022, a knee injury forced him to be placed on the team’s inactive roster.

Throughout the 10 regular season games of the 2023 USFL season, Marable ran for 524 yards and three scores, caught 28 passes for 235 yards and two more touchdowns, and returned kicks 15 times for 380 yards. He grabbed five catches for 29 yards and ran 19 times for 120 yards and one touchdown in two postseason games.

On August 11, Marable’s contract was released so he could sign with the New England Patriots. But on August 27, 2023, the Patriots waived him, and on September 6, 2023, Marable signed a new contract with the Birmingham Stallions.

Marable, who is in his third season with the Stallions, has seen firsthand the team’s development.

“We had no idea what to anticipate in the first year. We were unaware of the playbook. Marable clarified, “So we were just out there learning.” We have a few seasoned players on the squad now that we are in year three. I can assist new players because I am well-versed in the playbook. I am able to state that our experiences alone are what separate years one and three.

The Birmingham Stallions and the Renegades will square off in their season opener at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, which is conveniently adjacent to their training facility. Although it’s an away game, there won’t be any travel.

“Even though it’s an away game, there are benefits because it feels like a home game,” Marable stated. We don’t need to board a bus or an aeroplane, so it just seems like a home game. All we have to do is practise in this stadium and play at the same location.

On Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 PM ET (FOX), the UFL season opens with a matchup between the Arlington Renegades and the Birmingham Stallions.
