Reports: Hull FC continue rebuild with signing of Salford Red Devils hookerReports: Hull FC continue rebuild with signing of Salford Red Devils hooker - Serious About Rugby League

The rebuild at Hull FC looks to be continuing with reports that the club have signed Salford Red Devils young hooker Amir Bourouh.

That’s per Hull Live with Matt Shaw reporting that Bourouh is the latest recruit in the Hull FC shake-up under Director of Rugby Richie Myler. The 23-year-old will join the Black and Whites for 2025 along with a host of other recruits, although John Asiata is the only one to be confirmed by the club so far.

It’s a big coup for Hull FC whose current situation at hooker is complicated with the team relying on veteran Danny Houghton, who could well be in his last year for the club, and youngster Denive Balmforth.

Both Houghton and Balmforth are off contract at the end of the season and FC’s pre-season recruit Nu Brown, the New Zealand international hooker, has left the club and made a swift return to the NRL as part of the club’s nightmare season.

Hull FC land reported blow on Salford after Rowley rejection

If the Bourouh to Hull FC reports are confirmed then it will be a return blow from Hull FC towards the Manchester-based club with the Black and Whites having failed to land Paul Rowley as their new head coach, despite aggressive recruitment.

After that initial rejection, Sky Sports reported that Hull FC’s approach for Rowley included an attempted swoop for Marc Sneyd as well to strengthen their spine for 2025. However, they’ll now take Bourouh as one of the keystone players in the spine for their rebuild next season.

To that point, Jon Wilkin responded boldly that Hull FC could line up the Lachlan and Adrian Lam double swoop and since then FC have made a habit of targeting Leopards stars seemingly.

It has been reported that they have signed both Oliver Holmes and Zak Hardaker for 2025 as well as captain John Asiata, however, they’re still without a head coach which is something that Richie Myler will be keen to remedy during this break from Super League.
