ATLANTA, Georgia (First News Atlanta) – In 2025, the Braves might participate in a historic regular season match.
The Atlanta Braves will take against the Cincinnati Reds at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway in 2019 according to sources who spoke with The Athletic.
The clubs are slated to play in Atlanta from May 5–8, then in Cincinnati from August 1–3, although the dates of the games have not yet been formally announced.
Although Bristol Motor Speedway has never played host to a Major League Baseball game, it could easily break the record for most fans in attendance.
The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers preseason game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum currently holds the record. On March 29, 2008, a little over 115,000 spectators filled the historic stadium to witness the Red Sox defeat the Dodgers 7–4.
In 2016, the Tennessee Volunteers football team played Virginia Tech in Bristol in front of over 157,000 fans. The record for the most people in attendance at a college football game is that one.
Bristol Motor Speedway is located slightly over 300 miles from Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park and Truist Park.
The Athletic reports that Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will make their formal announcement on Friday.
