TRACKING DEBBY: Later this week, the possible effects of the now-tropical Storm Debby will be the main weather story. Though the specifics are still unknown, there is an increasing chance of major, destructive floods, especially on Friday and Saturday.

The prediction will keep changing. This week, the precise timing, course, and effects will vary. As things unfold, the News 12 Storm Watch Team will provide updates on Debby’s effects.
A FLOOD WATCH has been issued by the NWS for Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning.

 

We anticipate a storm later this evening until early Wednesday morning, before Debby arrives. Pop-up thunderstorms could begin this afternoon about 3 PM due to a front, and by the end of the evening commute, more widespread storms are probably in store. There will probably be localized flooding as a result of these storms sitting over the same locations for several hours at a time.

The rain should stop before Wednesday’s early commute, though conditions might still be affected by residual floods. Through Thursday, a few scattered showers are probable; on Friday, more extensive, heavy rain is expected.
