Over the course of the 2025 NFL offseason, the Detroit Lions are sure to be linked to plenty of big names they can acquire. The team has cap space and they are very much a contender after finishing 15-2 in 2024. They have already been brought up as a landing spot for some of the biggest names expected to become available on defense this offseason, but now it seems they’re being looked at as a potential suitor for a former All-Pro on offense.
During an appearance on a February 4 episode of Sportscaster, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed (via A to Z Sports’ Mike Payton) that a league executive told him the Lions were a team that could be in the mix for Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.
One league executive brought up Detroit to me because of the connection with Jared Goff. They came into the league together and made Pro Bowls together. That’s the type of instant connection together that could be fun. Kupp recently revealed he had been told by the Rams that they were looking to trade him this offseason. Honestly, I don’t get the idea of Kupp heading to the Lions. I understand the connection to Jared Goff, but I don’t understand where exactly Kupp would fit on this roster. The Lions already have two 1000-yard receivers, including one of the best receivers in the NFL.
