Report: Houston Texans Offer to Running Back Revealed

Saquon Barkley signed a huge contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, therefore the Houston Texans were not able to acquire him.

According to sources, former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has signed to a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $26 million signing bonus. The deal has the potential to reach $46.75 million.

With the $15.83 million annual contract, he would be the second-highest paid running back in NFL history, only surpassed by Christain McCaffrey of San Francisco’s $16 million salary.

The Houston Texans were regarded as a finalist, but their offer was significantly less than that.

The Texans reportedly offered the two-time All-Pro rusher a three-year contract worth $33 million, which would have made his annual salary about $11 million, according to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime.

After six NFL seasons, Barkley has reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark in three of them. He finished his sixth season with the Giants with 962 yards on 247 rushes and six touchdowns, falling just 38 yards short in 2023.

Barkley has demonstrated his versatility in the passing game by catching 46 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns in the previous campaign.

Now that Barkley is out of the picture, the Texans will probably concentrate on holding onto starting quarterback Devin Singletary.

TexansDaily.com has learned through sources that Houston is eager to keep him around for one more season. The 26-year-old Singletary has expressed a desire to be a part of a growing team with a dedicated fan base, but he will make his decision largely based on wage discussions.

Singletary averaged 4.2 yards per carry while rushing for 898 yards and four touchdowns on 216 carries during the previous season in Houston.
