REPORT: 4-Star Oregon DL Flipped by Texas Longhorns Sharma Josiah

On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns achieved a significant victory in the recruiting process.

Four-star defensive tackle Josiah Sharma, who had earlier in the summer committed to the Oregon Ducks, surprised the Horns by visiting just after the Texas Bash event in Austin, which attracted a number of elite Longhorns recruits.

But now that defensive line coach Kenny Baker has taken over, Sharma is on his way to Austin after helping the Longhorns sign the elite recruit.

Sharma tweeted on Thursday, saying, “After a long and deep conversation with the University of Texas, I feel like I’m home.”

In addition to edge rushers Lance Jackson and Smith Orogbo, Sharma is now the third defensive line commitment for the Horns.

The Longhorns had made the 6’4, 320-pound defensive tackle a top target as he sought to bolster their defensive line for the 2025 class. Sharma’s evaluations differ widely from website to website. Composites rates him as a three-star player, whereas On3 has him as the 83rd-rated player and among the top seven defensive linemen in the class of 2025.

In the class of 2025, the Longhorns and Ducks are vying for the services of numerous players, including the Sacramento product. Three five-star prospects, linebacker Jonah Williams, receiver Dakorien Moore, and athlete Michael Terry III, all list the two institutions as their first choices.

In what can only be seen as a significant victory for the Longhorns, the defensive tackle is currently its route to Austin after the Ducks had already triumphed on Moore and Sharma.
