‘He is ready’: Danny Rohl makes intriguing claim about Sheffield Wednesday player.

Danny Rohl hints at January movement at Sheffield Wednesday as 'talks' held - Sheffield Wednesday News

Danny Rohl, the head coach of Sheffield Wednesday, made some thought-provoking remarks regarding Lee Gregory, a striker.

The Star has been in communication with the German incumbent.

What specifically has Rohl said regarding Gregory’s Wednesday future, then? Let’s investigate more closely.

What Danny Rohl has said about Sheffield Wednesday striker Lee Gregory

It’s still the case that Gregory’s door to his Wednesday future is just a little bit ajar.

The striker who was unable to get a transfer out of Hillsborough during the January transfer window has been the subject of Rohl’s discussions.

Gregory was linked to a deal to Derby on Wednesday during the midseason transfer window, but his salary was a point of contention.

Now, the striker has received a bit of a lifeline even though Wednesday manager Rohl kept him out of the 25-man roster.

“I’ve never seen a player who takes these things like him,” he said to The Star. He continues to put in a lot of training, is prepared when I say yes, and he has given me the impression that he is fully on my side. Ultimately, it remains what it is.

He remains a member of my team, and fortunately, I still have room on my roster, so he will be available if needed. He’s done a great job for the entire team, so in my opinion he deserves all the credit, but sometimes that’s football.

“I think he’s demonstrated his professional attitude, and there are some decisions we have to make.”

Gregory could still play role

When it comes to playing on a matchday, it’s a great tragedy to see Gregory dropped from the Wednesday squad, as he possesses the skills necessary to truly lead the group.

But as Rohl points out, this is a professional sport, therefore occasionally difficult and unpleasant choices must be made.

Gregory has played a great role for Wednesday, amassing 29 goals in 101 games while playing for the Owls and leading the squad to promotion the previous year.

Given that Rohl has already commended the striker for his devotion, it will give him some confidence to go hard in training and keep his head down.

Gregory is a well-liked player at Wednesday, so it would be good to believe that when his contract expires in the summer, he will eventually have the opportunity to have a fitting Hillsborough farewell.
