Prince Nkabinde: Am so excited,I want to make Bloemfontein my home.

Prince Nkabinde, the University of Johannesburg’s standout winger, is excited and eager to call Bloemfontein home. Nkabinde has previously played for the Griquas and Lions in a few Currie Cup games, but his success in the Varsity Cup has piqued the interest of the Toyota Cheetahs. Nkabinde told the Bloemfontein Courant that he is looking forward to this opportunity. “Yes, I’m quite excited and I will be joining the Cheetahs in about two weeks’ time,” Nkabinde replied.

“I’M REALLY EXCITED FOR YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY. IT’S A BLESSING FOR ME AND I’M REALLY GRATEFUL TO GET ANOTHER SHOT AT PROFESSIONAL RUGBY. HOPEFULLY, I CAN FURTHER MY CAREER AT THAT SIDE.”

In addition to Nkabinde, former captain Aidon Davis will return to the Cheetahs after two years with the Exeter Chiefs in England, while Pieter Janse van Vuren, a former Griquas captain and lock, will head to Bloemfontein after playing in France. The Cheetahs welcomed five new players over the weekend, with Tapiwa Mafura and Sibabalo Qoma departing for the Lions and loosehead prop Alulutho Tshakweni joining the Bulls. Ruan Pienaar, 40, has announced his retirement as a player and will now focus on teaching. Rynier Bernardo, the lock, has also retired after suffering an injury.
