Sea Eagles ready for strong test at Penrith

Fresh from a week’s rest from the bye, the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles head to the foot of the mountains on Sunday to tackle premiers Penrith in round 14 of the Telstra Premiership.

The Sea Eagles head into the game in seventh spot on 15 points with the Panthers third on 18 points.

Origin players Daly Cherry-Evans, Jake Trbojevic and Haumole Olakau’atu will continue to be monitored in the lead up to the match as to whether they will back up. It will be the same case for the Panthers after having several rep players involved on Wednesday night.

Just one game for Manly

Sea Eagles supporters will be able to take their time heading west with Manly only featuring in the NRL match at 4.05pm.

Gates open at Penrith at 1.30pm. The Sea Eagles’ NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams play in Newcastle on Sunday against the Knights.

Last Time We Met

A sold out crowd of over 17,000 saw the Sea Eagles account for the premiers 32-18 on a magical Saturday night at 4 Pines Park in early April.

Cherry-Evans broke the long time record of Cliff Lyons for most games for Manly with the Sea Eagles running five tries to three after leading 14-6 at half-time.

Saaby to celebrate

Look out for dynamic winger Jason Saab to top off a great week with a special game against the Panthers.

Already signed until the end of 2026, the Sea Eagles have extended Saab’s contract to 2029.

One of the fastest players in the NRL, Saab has scored 53 tries in 75 first grade games, with 68 of those matches played at Manly.

“This club has been good to me. I’ve made great memories here and I want to make some more,” Saab said.

Tommy terrific

Sea Eagles winger Tommy Talau has been in incredible form in his first season at the club.

Talau has scored seven tries in his 10 appearances this season, including crossing for five tries in his past five matches. He scored a double in our last start win over the Storm.

Although shifted back to the wing this weekend due to the return of centre Tolu Koula and the impressive debut at full-back by Lehi Hopoate, Talau will again be a key man in a lightning and skillful Manly backline that will ask plenty of questions of the Panthers.
