Ish Smith’s recent departure from the Charlotte Hornets marks the latest twist in his well-traveled NBA career. Following a stint with the Denver Nuggets, where he played 43 regular-season games and contributed to their 2023 NBA Championship victory over the Miami Heat, Smith found himself unsigned during the offseason.

However, just before the start of the 2023-24 NBA season, Smith inked a deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Despite his efforts, averaging 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game with a 41.8% field goal percentage in 43 games, the Hornets decided to waive him on February 8. Smith cleared waivers on February 11, making him available to sign with any team in the league.

Throughout his career, Smith has maintained solid averages of 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, with a 42.9% field goal percentage and a 32.5% three-point shooting percentage in 805 regular-season games. His playoff experience includes 23 games, adding depth to his seasoned resume.
