Perfect fit for Ducks: Oregon lands huge defensive commitments

Oregon football received commitments from 2025 linebacker Nasir Wyatt and transfer portal defensive tackle Derrick Harmon from Michigan State.

The Oregon Ducks football team has maintained its hot recruiting streak for top players. On Friday, Oregon coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks received commitments from 2025 linebacker Nasir Wyatt and transfer portal defensive tackle Derrick Harmon from Michigan State.

Wyatt is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, with offers from Oregon, Alabama, Arizona, Auburn and Baylor. Wyatt, a consensus four-star prospect, is noted for his speed and pass-rushing abilities, both of which are important characteristics for Lanning’s ideal linebacker.

“Tosh [Lupoi], he already has a plan put in store for me that allows me to do everything I do best.,” Wyatt said in an interview with ESPN.

Wyatt, who has a.96 rating in the 247 Sports Composite, is ranked as the No. 8 edge/outside linebacker in the 2025 high school class and should add significant depth to Oregon’s defence. Aside from linebackers, Oregon’s interior defensive line was an area of need as it enters its debut season in the Big Ten. Enter Michigan State transfer defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, whom the Ducks have just signed through the transfer portal.

Harmon was the top-ranked defensive tackle in the transfer portal before joining the Ducks. Harmon, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 320 pounds, possesses the size and tenacity required of a starter in one of college football’s most physically demanding conferences. After losing Brandon Dorlus and Popo Aumavae (among others) from last season’s defensive line, Oregon moved quickly to replace their production, bringing in Houston transfer Jamaree Caldwell and now Harmon, both of whom are rated four stars by 247.

With the summer recruiting season heating up, Oregon will undoubtedly attempt to add talent across the board as they seek the finest possible recruiting class. Peyton Woodyard, a transfer portal safety from Alabama, is set to visit Oregon this weekend as Lanning and Lupoi attempt to shore up one of the Ducks’ few remaining weaknesses.
