Paul Rowley expressed satisfaction after Huddersfield Giants game

Head Coach Paul Rowley expressed satisfaction with securing two points against a strong Huddersfield Giants team. Nene Macdonald stood out, leading Salford Red Devils to their third consecutive Super League win despite a late challenge from the hosts. The victory, the seventh out of ten matches in 2024, has propelled Salford joint-top in a tightly contested top six, with five teams tied on 14 points.

“12-0 up; we started to get in the ascendency with ruck control and last plays through Marc Sneyd, and looked really comfortable.”

“We then had a try disallowed that was an incorrect decision. You’re all (the reporters) nodding, so write that in your report that you all agree!” Rowley joked.

“I felt we could’ve gone on and had a more healthier scoreline, but credit to Huddersfield, there were two sin-bins and a red card, so it got a little bit chaotic the game, the chaos sort of suited the team that was chasing the game – and they made a real fist of it at the end.

“They’re a quality side, they’ve got some quality players. I’d have been gutted for the players if we hadn’t come away with the win, because I felt we were the better team and deserved the win.

“But before the game, to be asked the question, whatever it looked like, I would have been happy with the two points against a side who are quality, but confident in the way they’ve been playing, and the results they’ve been notching against some tough oppostion.

“So overall, we’re very happy!”

Rowley, speaking to the media after the match, shared his thoughts on the game. “Huddersfield started very strongly, showing dominance in the ruck, both in attack and defense,” he said. “However, we managed to score two exceptional tries; one from a brilliant interception and the other showcasing fantastic skill during a transition.”
