Oliver Glasner has been at Crystal Palace discussing his early thoughts on Matheus Franca and Naouirou Ahamada.

The 49-year-old said as much in a conversation with the South London Press.

So what did Oliver Glasner have to say about Naouirou Ahamada and Matheus Franca, the Crystal Palace duo? Let’s examine this.

Oliver Glasner commends Naouirou Ahamada and Matheus Franca.

Roy Hodgson, you know, was always hard on the young players at Crystal Palace.

After losing 2-1 to Tottenham in October, the 76-year-old famously attacked Ahamada, Franca, and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, drawing criticism from commentators like Gabriel Agbonlahor.

In contrast, Glasner has expressed admiration for the children at Selhurst Park.

The Austrian remarked, “I spoke with both of them, and we support them, just like any other player,” in reference to Franca and Ahamada in particular.

“Not only have both made excellent first impressions, but so have all the other players. It’s what I enjoy when someone demonstrates their skills and qualities. Franca and Hamada carried it out.

“If they keep training the way they have, they have a good chance of playing every game.”

That ought to be welcome news for all fans of Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace supporters ought to be ecstatic.

Unlike Hodgson’s inflexible lineups, it appears that starting places under Glasner will need to be won and everybody is in with a chance to play.

The likes of Jeffrey Schlupp or Will Hughes would always be the starters, no matter how bad they played.

Before his departure, Hodgson managed just two victories in 16 games, yet the starting lineup was largely unchanged, which was quite perplexing to watch every week.

With Glasner in charge, at least for the time being, it appears that everyone has a fresh start to make an impression and that positions are awarded based on ability rather than standing.
