Ohio State’s post-Michigan natty warpath continues with a significant recruiting victory.

Ohio State Signs 20 to National Letters of Intent - Ohio State

Let’s just say that the Ohio State Buckeyes football team was not too happy to see their fiercest opponent, Michigan, win their first national championship since 1997 after defeating Ryan Day’s squad three times in a row. Because Ohio State has been on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal like crazy since the Wolverines emerged victorious in Houston.

Furthermore, it doesn’t seem like the warpath will finish very soon.

On Sunday, 5-star cornerback Na’eem Offord from Birmingham, AL, committed to the Buckeyes. Offord is the second 5-star cornerback and Top 10 overall player Ohio State has received a commitment from in their 2025 class. According to 247Sports Composite, Offord is listed as the No. 5 overall prospect for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Ohio State defeats Auburn and Alabama to acquire 2025 5-star CB Na’eem Offord.

Going into enemy territory and landing a 5-star recruit is an even larger victory for Ohio State, as Offord picked the Buckeyes over in-state rivals Alabama and Auburn. The 6-foot-1 cornerback gave Hayes Fawcett of On3 an explanation of why he committed to Day’s program instead of other possibilities.

“Just felt like they were the best fit for me to come in and compete with the best of the best getting developed by a coach who has been around the game for a long time.”

Once more, though, Ohio State has been consistently acquiring a ton of talent for the 2024 season and beyond by accomplishing just that over the past month.

Taking advantage of Alabama’s exodus following Nick Saban’s retirement, the Buckeyes signed one of the best transfer portal groups this offseason, bringing in former 5-star quarterback Julian Sayin and Caleb Downs. Ohio State has also added experienced quarterback Will Howard, former Alabama center Seth McLaughlin, and former Ole Miss standout running back Quinshon Judkins.

It becomes clear that there is a renewed passion and fervor inside the program when you take into account that the Buckeyes have also already received pledges from four Top 35 and six Top 100 recruits in the 2025 class. But the most crucial thing will be to ensure that Day converts that into success on the football field.
