On Wednesday, the Calgary Stampeders added wide receivers Cameron Echols-Luper, Dontario Drummond, and Jaquarii Robinson to their roster.

Cameron Echols-Luper, a 28-year-old from Ennis, Texas, stands at six feet and weighs 195 pounds. In the 2023 season, he played ten games for the New Jersey Generals, making 23 catches for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed with eight kick returns covering 255 yards and one touchdown, along with nine punt returns for 32 yards.

Echols-Luper had previously signed with the New Orleans Breakers on October 4, 2023, but due to the Breakers not being part of the USFL and XFL merger that led to the formation of the United Football League (UFL), he joined the Calgary Stampeders.

His stint with the Generals began on April 1, 2022, where in the 2022 season, he recorded three catches for 38 yards, one carry for 24 yards, one touchdown, and 26 kick returns covering 748 yards in eight games.

Prior to his time with the New Jersey Generals, Cameron Echols-Luper joined the B.C. Lions in 2019, where he was assigned to the practice squad. Moving on to 2021, he played for the Sea Lions (TSL), showcasing his skills with 13 catches for 193 yards.

During his college years, Echols-Luper had a two-season stint at TCU (2013-14), amassing 13 catches for 93 yards, one carry for three yards, completing 3 of 4 passes (75%) for 59 yards, one touchdown, 11 kick returns covering 126 yards, 47 punt returns for 536 yards, and one touchdown in 24 games for the Horned Frogs. His noteworthy performance led to an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a return specialist in 2014.

Subsequently, Echols-Luper transferred to Arkansas State (2015-16), contributing 26 catches for 407 yards and one touchdown, seven carries for eight yards, completing 2 of 3 passes (67%) for 66 yards, one touchdown, two kick returns for 35 yards, and four punt returns for 139 yards in 13 games for the Red Wolves.

Following that, Echols-Luper transitioned to Western Kentucky in 2017, recording 42 catches for 473 yards, four touchdowns, two carries for six yards, and 18 kick returns for 390 yards in 10 games for the Hilltoppers.

Dontario Drummond, a 26-year-old from Laurel, Mississippi, stands at six feet one inch and weighs 220 pounds. In the 2023 preseason, he made five catches for 75 yards across three games for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys signed Drummond as an undrafted free agent in 2022, and he spent the season on the practice squad.

During his college career, Drummond spent one season at East Mississippi Community College in 2018, where he made 58 catches for 857 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games for the Lions. His outstanding performance earned him the title of First Team NJCAA All-American. Subsequently, he transferred to Ole Miss (2019-21), contributing 114 catches for 1,633 yards, 15 touchdowns, six carries for 40 yards, one touchdown, completed 2 of 2 passes (100%) for 64 yards, and nine punt returns for 84 yards in 34 games for the Rebels.

As for Jaquarii Roberson, a 25-year-old from Murfreesboro, North Carolina, standing at six feet one inch and weighing 182 pounds, he signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023 but was released in April without playing a game for Houston.

He subsequently inked a deal with the B.C. Lions, participating in a preseason game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023, where he made five catches for 44 yards and scored one touchdown.

Before joining Houston, Roberson secured a spot with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent and later had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Rams.

In his college years, Roberson spent four seasons at Wake Forest (2018-21), amassing 146 catches for 2,158 yards, 17 touchdowns, and two carries for eight yards in 40 games for the Demon Deacons. His impressive performances earned him the distinction of being a two-time Second-Team All-ACC selection.
