News Update: Danny Rohl admits expanded Sheffield Wednesday role.

Danny Rohl hints at January movement at Sheffield Wednesday as 'talks' held - Sheffield Wednesday News

Danny Rohl has admitted that he is enjoying the extra responsibility at Sheffield Wednesday other than just being the head coach of the club.

Rohl took charge of Wednesday in October and despite being 23rd in the Championship table, the Owls have produced some big performances and unexpected results in the last month or so.

Wednesday did not have a CEO, a sporting director or a head of recruitment when Rohl decided to accept the offer to become their manager more than two months ago.

The German conceded that he has had more responsibilities at Hillsborough than just being the head coach of the first team.

However, he insisted that the extra responsibility is an added attraction and he is enjoying the process of building a structure behind the scenes for the club.

Rohl stressed that the final decision is still made by the owner but he is always open to suggestions and arguments to make the club better both on and off the pitch.

The German told The Athletic: “It’s a lean structure and pretty full on.

“I’ve taken on many things that go beyond coaching, such as the hiring of personnel and talking to agents.

“It’s nice that I had a chance to use some of the experience I had at Leipzig when it comes to building a structure at a club.

“That is part of the attraction for me here and it is satisfying to have that kind of influence and impact.

“The decision-making process is quick and we always work together with the owner.

“I can propose things and lay the groundwork, but the final decision rests with him. He is open to good arguments.”

Rohl still has work to do if he is to pull Sheffield Wednesday out of the relegation zone in the latter half of the season.
