When questioned about the Rangers’ plans for the January transfer window, manager Philippe Clement gave a cryptic reaction.

The Belgian was speaking following his team’s first League Cup victory in twelve years, which came about thanks to a goal from captain James Tavernier against Aberdeen.

In addition, the 49-year-old played it safe when it came to his next market transactions.

Ibrox hero Ally McCoist questioned Clement on ViaPlay about his ambitions during the January window, to which he said, “We have ambition to do things, but I am not going to put an amount on it.”

“We are aware that January may be challenging, and the team doesn’t want to let go of guys who are playing well.

“It’s logical and the same for us. Maybe it will be players who played less, it’s more difficult. But we are looking to make the club better.

“But also it is my job to make the player’s better. It’s ok to say we need five or six players and need this, this and this.

“I’m not that kind of manager – I want to invest in the team that are here.”
