In a significant boost to their 2026 recruiting class, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have secured a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot. Hailing from Fruitland High School in Idaho, Obot is a 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman recognized as the No. 1 prospect in Idaho and the No. 12 offensive tackle nationally for the 2026 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Obot’s decision to join Nebraska comes after considering offers from several top programs, including USC, Oregon, Michigan, and Auburn. The Cornhuskers’ coaching staff, particularly offensive line coach Donovan Raiola, played a pivotal role in Obot’s recruitment, fostering a strong relationship that ultimately influenced his commitment.
Nebraska’s recent recruiting efforts have been noteworthy. In December 2024, the team secured a commitment from wide receiver Dane Key, a transfer from Kentucky with impressive collegiate stats. Additionally, in July 2024, four-star defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak chose Nebraska over Oklahoma and Kansas State, further bolstering the team’s defensive lineup.
Obot’s commitment underscores Nebraska’s growing appeal among top-tier recruits and signifies a positive trajectory for the program under its current coaching regime. Fans and analysts alike are optimistic that these strategic additions will translate into on-field success in the coming seasons.
