On Thursday, the Ottawa Redblacks announced the signing of defensive back Elijah Jones.

Hailing from Cape Coral, Florida, te 25-year-old Jones stands at six feet tall and weighs 188 pounds. His recent stint with the Houston Gamblers (USFL) in 2023 saw him tally five tackles, including four solo

tackles and one assist, along w

ith one interception and one pass breakup across seven games. Jones joined the Gamblers as a free agent signing on April 19, 2023, showcasing his versatility and impact on the field.

Prior to his time in Houston, Jones ventured into professional football by signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. He also had a brief tenure with the San Antonio Brahmas (XFL) in 2023, further expanding his experience and skill set in different football leagues.

During his collegiate years, Jones showcased his prowess on the field at various levels. He began his journey at Ellsworth Community College, where he spent two seasons from 2016 to 2017. During his time with the Panthers, he amassed impressive statistics, including 30 tackles, seven interceptions for 35 yards, and 16 pass breakups in 22 games.

Jones continued to excel as he transferred to Kansas, where he played from 2018 to 2020. Over 19 games with the Jayhawks, he recorded 34 tackles, four tackles for loss, and seven pass breakups, demonstrating his defensive capabilities. His collegiate journey concluded with a transfer to Oregon State in 2021, where he contributed five tackles and one pass breakup in five games for the Beavers.

With his diverse background and experience across various football platforms, Jones brings a valuable skill set and depth to the Ottawa Redblacks’ defensive unit, positioning himself as a key asset for the upcoming season.
