New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the signing of defender Abdi Mohamed to a season-long contract, subject to league and federation approval. Mohamed initially joined the team at the beginning of May on a 25-day contract and has since played every minute of competitive soccer during those four weeks. His impressive performances have earned him two USL Championship Team of the Week honors.
“Abdi joined our team midweek, just days before a match, and instantly appeared as if he had been with us all season,” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “He has surpassed our expectations, giving his all in every match and training session, and has quickly become an integral part of our club. We are excited to have him continue contributing on the pitch, in the locker room, and within the community for the rest of the season.”
Since joining the Black & Yellow, Mohamed has played 474 minutes, created eight chances in five matches, and maintained a 100% tackle success rate. His defensive stats include winning 16 out of 22 duels and 5 out of 7 aerial duels, highlighting his strong defensive presence.
