Monday’s results

Beach volleyball: Chase Budinger (La Costa Canyon High School) and partner Miles Evans were eliminated 2-0 by reigning Olympic gold medalists Christian Soerum and Anders Mol of Norway in the round of the 16.

 

Equestrian: Rancho Santa Fe resident Karl Cook was 16th in the individual jumping qualifier with a horse named Caracole de la Roque and advanced to the final.

 

Track and field: Gabby Scott (Westview High School), representing Puerto Rico, finished fourth in her 400-meter heat in 50.74 seconds and did not advance to the semifinals.

 

Volleyball: Garrett Muagututia (Francis Parker High School) and the U.S. men beat Brazil 3-1 (26-24, 28-30, 25-19, 25-19) to advance to Thursday’s semifinals against No. 1-ranked Poland.

 

Water polo: Alex Bowen (Santana High School) scored two goals for the U.S. men in a 14-11 win against Croatia that put the U.S. men into Wednesday’s quarterfinals against Australia.

 

Tuesday’s action

Equestrian: Cook goes in the individual jumping final Chateau de Versailles.

 

Skateboarding: Encinitas resident Bryce Wettstein and Oceanside resident Ruby Lilley are in the women’s park event.

 

Soccer: The U.S. women, with Naomi Girma and Jaedyn Shaw of the San Diego Wave, play Germany in the semifinals in Lyon at 9 a.m. PDT. They beat Germany 4-1 in group play last week.

 

Track cycling: Tokyo gold medalist Jennifer Valente (Cathedral Catholic High School ) opens her Olympics in the team pursuit at the velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yveline.
