Report: Browns work out former 4th round offensive tackle
Cameron Fleming was not signed but could be looked at to help as training camp continues
The Cleveland Browns have a deep roster but a couple of injuries quickly impact any team in the NFL. For the Browns, having both Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin on the PUP list to start training camp has forced backups to play bigger roles while trying to install their new offense.
While GM Andrew Berry brought OT Hakeem Adeniji in during NFL free agency, James Hudson III has primarily filled in as the starting left tackle so far in training camp. Perhaps that is one of the reasons QB Deshaun Watson won’t play in the preseason opener.
After waiving OT Chim Okorafor earlier this week, Cleveland reportedly brought in Cameron Fleming for a workout.
Fleming was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. After four seasons protecting Tom Brady, Fleming played two years in Dallas and one with the New York Giants before the last three with the Denver Broncos.
In total, Fleming has played in 117 games with 62 starts in his 10-year career. Pro Football Focus graded Fleming down at 59.4 last season after two straight years over 71 overall.
Often, Berry brings players in for workouts a week before signing them. That does not mean Fleming will be added after the preseason tilt with the Green Bay Packers but rarely does a workout immediately lead to a signing.
