A report claims that the Miami Marlins have decided whether or not to trade former NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara.
On Wednesday, Marlins writer Craig Mish said on X that Alcantara will not be dealt this summer, according to a statement from Miami.
Alcantara has missed the entire season while he heals from the October Tommy John surgery. In 2023, the 28-year-old had a poor season, going 7-12 with a 4.14 ERA. Due to a UCL injury, he was sidelined in September and had reconstructive surgery.
Alcantara had an impressive 14-9 record and 2.28 ERA in 2022. That season, he was voted the Cy Young Award winner and placed tenth in the NL MVP votes.
Alcantara is currently engaged in a $56 million, five-year contract. He is in high demand due to his skill and affordability, and he is anticipated to recover from surgery in the upcoming year.
