“The loyalty of coach English and the coaching staff,” which made me choose Friars.

Jamier Jones, a highly touted five-star forward ranked 22nd overall in the 2025 class by the 247Sports composite list, has committed to Providence. He announced his decision during an Instagram Live session with Joe Tipton of On3 on Sunday. Jones selected Providence over other prominent programs, including Ohio State, Houston, Kansas, LSU, and South Carolina.

Standing at 6’6″ and weighing 210 pounds, Jones hails from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida. He explained his choice to Tipton, emphasizing the loyalty of Providence’s head coach Kim English and his coaching staff. Jones expressed his confidence in their ability to help him achieve his ultimate goal of reaching the NBA. “The loyalty of coach English and the coaching staff,” Jones stated. “I wouldn’t want to trust any other coaching staff to get me to where I want to be, which is the NBA. Everything those guys have been telling me sounds great, and I’m just ready to work hard and do what I do to reach my goal!”

Jones provided a self-assessment of his playing style, describing what he will bring to Providence when he arrives in a year. He stated, “One word: Dog. The mental toughness I play with sets me apart. I’m a willing passer who loves to involve my teammates. My best skill is attacking the rim, but I can also knock down shots, and my game is only improving.”

Jones is a significant addition to a Providence team that has already secured 4-star center Erhunmwunse Oswin for its 2025 class. Oswin, who committed to head coach Kim English’s program in January, is ranked No. 24 overall on the 247Sports composite list.
