Kim English, head coach of the Providence College men’s basketball team, recently used social media to criticize coaches he believes are attempting to lure Friar players away from the program. In a post on Tuesday, English called out these coaches, urging them to contact him directly if they are interested in recruiting Providence players, rather than reaching out to the players or their families.
English’s post read, “Type shii… To all the tampering Head Coaches and Assistant coaches and flunkies… just call me and lmk if you want to recruit our players. Leave them and their families alone. Call me. I’ll see if they want to play for your programs. Yall have my number.”
The timing of English’s post coincided with rumors circulating on social media about the possible transfer of PC star Bryce Hopkins. However, as of the end of Tuesday, Hopkins had not entered the transfer portal. The deadline for entering the portal was set for the end of the day on Wednesday, May 1.
