A key player for Sheffield Wednesday is currently desired by several Championship teams.

Although Sheffield Wednesday has a long list of players whose contracts are up for renewal this summer, they have done a particularly good job of holding onto all of their key players.

Both Josh Windass and Liam Palmer were connected to moves to the Major League Soccer, but it always appeared as though they would stay at Hillsborough until the very end of the current campaign.

Perhaps the most difficult to deal with was Marvin Johnson, 33, who faced a January £1 million offer from Ipswich Town.

The Owls, however, chose to hold onto Johnson and only sent Tyreeq Bakinson and George Byers to loan teams.

Sheffield However, Wednesday’s precarious contract position may cause them to lose a number of stars this summer, and if they are unable to hold onto their championship status.

Though players like Windass, Di’Shon Bernard, and Dominic Iorfa might depart on a free transfer, Danny Rohl’s future is arguably the most significant development.

For his first management post, the German coach arrived to England in October. Since then, he has radically changed the team and placed them in a fantastic position to avoid relegation.

But where the team is positioned in the football hierarchy may also have an impact on Rohl’s future there.

In Sheffield, the 34-year-old is establishing a very promising reputation for himself, one that could come back to haunt them.

The Star claims that other Championship clubs find Rohl to be “the subject of admiration,” and they think he may be gaining attention in his native Germany as well.

What will it take to lure Danny Rohl away?

Danny Rohl is obviously passionate about Sheffield Wednesday and has a great rapport with the fans, but would he be tempted to quit if presented with an incredible opportunity elsewhere?

In my opinion, Rohl would only depart Hillsborough in the event of their relegation at the end of the season. The German is aware of this team’s potential, and if he stays, I don’t think it would be beyond him to lead the group to a far higher position the next season.

It could be foolish of him to turn down a managerial offer from a team vying for the Championship playoffs, though, if they drop to League One.

Rohl might be tempted to go back to Germany, but it’s possible that he has goals of playing in the Premier League in the coming years.

Although there are a lot of variables influencing Rohl’s future in management, Sheffield Wednesday should really just focus on enjoying what they have right now because he won’t be there for long.
