What Keenan Palasia is Hoping for, ahead of Saturday debut

NRL 2024: Titans, Titanic potential: Palasia shares premiership hunger upon homecoming | Titans

When Keenan Palasia hits the pitch at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday night, he will wear the number 188.

The former Broncos enforcer is hoping to emulate some of the club’s most notable debuts by making his maiden game in cyan and gold unforgettable.

In honour of their inaugural Gold Coast game, Titans.com.au has taken a nostalgic look back at some of those iconic players.

Chris Walker – Titan 16
Round 1, 2007 v Dragons

Walker, who began the Titans’ season on the wing, finished off a deft backline move and converted his own try from the touchline to score the team’s first four-pointer.

In the first-ever game versus the Red V at Suncorp Stadium, Walker concluded with a brace of tries, three goals from three attempts, and his own piece of Titans history.

Jordan Atkins – Titan 30
Round 1, 2008 v Cowboys

“Air” Jordan Atkins’s debut, which christened the new stadium by becoming the first player in NRL history to score four tries on debut, took centre stage during the grand opening of the Titans’ new Robina Stadium.

Atkins ensured the Cowboys wouldn’t come near in the team’s opening game at Cbus Super Stadium by scoring four spectacular tries, the second of which will go down in history as one of the best winger finishes ever.

Jordan Rapana – Titan  40
Round 18, 2008 v Roosters

Rapana followed in Atkins’ footsteps, vaulting over Roosters defenders to score two spectacular tries on his debut. It was the second coming of “Air” Jordan.

After finishing his Titans career with five tries in five games, the gifted 18-year-old winger left to serve on a Mormon mission in Europe.

Jamal Idris – Titan 64
Round 1, 2012 v Cowboys

The massive centre made his much awaited Titans debut up north, going on to score two touchdowns and leading the team to an 18-0 triumph over the Cowboys. Halfback Scott Prince’s well-placed kick early in the tackle count set up his first try.

For his second four-pointer, Idris displayed his raw strength by slamming into a ball that hooker Matt Srama was floating about and crashing near the line.

Jayden Campbell – Titan 165
Round 13, 2021 v Storm

The Campbells, the first father-son team to play for the Titans, created club history when they emerged late in the 2021 season.

With the game on the line, Jayden made a great tackle on Nicho Hynes that saved the game, all while sporting the same #1 jersey that his father Preston had worn.
