just now: Report says that ten days after his release, rookie running back Deshaun Fenwick was re-signed by the Patriots.

Now back in New England is Deshaun Fenwick. The rookie running back has re-signed with the Patriots, just ten days after the team decided to dismiss him, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The 24-year-old Fenwick first signed with the Patriots in May as an undrafted free agent. He took part in the off-season training program and the first few days of training camp with the squad, but after safety A.J. Thomas was added to the roster, he was let go. Waivers allowed the rookie to go unclaimed and hit the open market.

Despite having just worked out with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fenwick has not been signed since. He is now back with the team that gave him his NFL debut.

Over the course of six seasons, the 6-foot-1, 223-pound running back played in 50 games between South Carolina and Oregon State. In all, he ran 385 times for 2,118 yards and 18 touchdowns; in addition, he caught 31 passes for 213 yards and two more scores.

Now that Fenwick is back in the mix, the Patriots’ roster will consist of 90 players once more. JuJu Smith-Schuster, a seasoned wide receiver, was released last Friday, clearing a slot for them.
