just now: At training camp, the Titans offense experiences a  set back on the last……

Tennessee’s Nashville (AP) — On Saturday at training camp, the Tennessee Titans offense had an up and down day.

During the pass defense phase, one of the highlights was when Will Levis hit Tony Pollard coming out of the backfield with a deep throw for a touchdown. The offense’s worst points were during the third down, when Tre Avery intercepted the pass after Levis let it slip out of his hands on a deep pass to Calvin Ridley.

In addition, there were a few plays during the third down session that, had there been live tackles during the practice, probably would have resulted in sacks.

“I assumed that today would be back and forth. We accomplished some nice things offensively throughout the base down phase, and the defense played some solid third down play. On third down, they’re truly a pain in the butt, according to coach Brian Callahan. “Getting all that work, all the blitz pickup and covert coverages, was beneficial to us.” They perform admirably. It presented an attacking challenge for us. They made a few of plays, and we made a few. Football teams ought to aspire to be that good in practice.

Regarding the potential sacks, Callahan acknowledged that the offensive line is less effective when pads are off, but even so, he saw some possibilities lost as his new offense began to materialize in the newly implemented system.

We must strengthen our defenses. It is obviously more difficult without pads. We are not primarily focused on men. However, Callahan stated, “I think we just need to execute better.” “We had a few throws that we could have made but missed. We had a shot, but that one wasn’t very enjoyable because Will missed a touchdown on the deep toss.

Early in the base session, Pollard made a double move to get loose on a wheel route and hauled in a deep pass from Levis for an easy score, demonstrating Levis’s ability to make plays.

Callahan commented, “That was a really nice throw and a really nice route by Tony out of the backfield.”

NOTES: Only two Titans players were absent for the stadium work, and both had been out for some time. Due to a calf issue, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is out. Harold Landry, the outside linebacker, was on the sidelines recovering from a medical condition, although he wasn’t wearing a uniform. .. Malik Willis, the third-string quarterback, had a good day as he looks to hold onto his roster place and possibly challenge Mason Rudolph for the No. 2 spot.

He hit Bryce Oliver with a terrific deep ball, but the undrafted rookie was unable to haul it in. He also had two nice passes to Tre’Shaun Harrison. “I’m rather happy with Malik. Both of those backup quarterbacks, in my opinion, have performed admirably. Malik emerged and enjoyed a pleasant day complete with some forceful throws. With the football, he’s done a great job of knowing what to do and where to go.
