JUST IN: 5-star SF. chooses Providence over Kansas, Ohio State, LSU, and more.

Jamier Jones, a five-star forward ranked 22nd overall on the 247Sports composite list of the class of 2025 men’s high school basketball prospects, has committed to Providence. Jones shared the news to On3’s Joe Tipton on Instagram Live Sunday. He choose the Friars over Ohio State, Houston, Kansas, LSU, and South Carolina. Jones, a 6’6″, 210-pound small forward from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida, told Tipton why he chose Providence over five other institutions.

“The loyalty of coach English and the coaching staff,” Jones said. “I wouldn’t trust any other coaching staff to get me to where I want to be: the NBA. Everything those folks have been telling me sounds amazing, and I’m just ready to work hard and do whatever I need to do to attain my objective.

Jones also issued a self-scouting report when asked what Providence will receive when he arrives on campus in a year: “One word: dog. The dog I play with mentally isolates me quite a bit. I’m a willing passer who enjoys getting his teammates engaged. I put pressure on the rim (rim attacker is my strongest skill) and can knock down jumpers, and things will only improve from here.” Jones is a significant addition to Providence, which has previously signed 4-star centre Erhunmwunse Oswin to its class of 2025. Oswin, who committed to head coach Kim English’s programme in January, is ranked No. 24 in the 247Sports composite rankings.
