JC Latham discusses Kadyn Proctor’s move from Iowa back to Alabama: Grass isn’t always greener’

After a brief flirtation with Iowa, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor is allegedly returning to Alabama football. After the 2023 season concluded, the left-handed starter for the Crimson Tide made his way back to his home state to play the Hawkeyes by utilizing the transfer link.

Proctor declared on Tuesday that he would be returning to UA and intending to reenter the portal. Following his participation in the Tide’s pro day in advance of the NFL Draft, former Alabama right tackle JC Latham confirmed the news on Wednesday.

According to Latham, “We’re the standard.” Other places don’t necessarily have greener grass. As a result, you often learn the hard way that something isn’t better where you first assume it would be. Alabama is the place for spring training.

As a true freshman at Alabama last season, Proctor won the starting role. Despite his early struggles, he made significant progress during the season.

Before going north via the gateway, he was named a freshman all-SEC by the conference coaches. Latham claimed that he hadn’t spoken to Proctor much over the choice.

“I don’t believe I have,” Latham remarked. “It’s true that we have a casual relationship; I follow his stories on Instagram and engage with him from that standpoint, but I haven’t really discussed his decision to return because I’ve been training.”

Latham was pleased with Proctor’s progress as a player in his first year at Tuscaloosa.

Latham praised the “amazing amount of improvement.” “When he first arrived, he was a little puppy, and from summer camp to autumn camp and beyond, he simply had the flexibility to change course and keep things moving. You may see the improvement immediately by comparing the most recent game to the previous one.

Proctor’s next opportunity to access the transfer portal is on April 15. Upon his return, he will be eligible right away.
