Injury update: Warriors star man to play upcoming game

Curry has experienced multiple ankle injuries during his 15-year NBA career.

During the Chicago Bulls’ home game on Thursday night at Chase Centre, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry suffered a right ankle injury. He won’t be available when the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama play on Saturday.

Over the course of his remarkable 15-year NBA career, which has seen him win four titles, Curry, 35, has suffered multiple injuries to his right ankle. Golden State verified on Twitter that he will undergo another evaluation on Tuesday.

“Stephen Curry received an MRI that confirmed a sprained right ankle after exiting Thursday’s game against the Bulls,” the Warriors stated. “Curry will not play in tonight’s game against the Spurs and will be re-evaluated again on Tuesday.”

Before travelling to San Antonio two days later, the Warriors play the Spurs on Saturday night. Golden State won the first meeting between them this season at home, but the four-game series concludes in Texas later this month.

“He was icing his ankle while wearing an ankle wrap. Following the Chicago loss, teammate Klay Thompson remarked, “I know we’re going to miss him if he does have time off.” “We just need to work together as we’ve been in his shoes previously, taking time off. When he does return, whenever that may be, I know he’ll be prepared to leave. We simply want to let him know to take his time and to recuperate quickly.”

How did Stephen Curry hurt his ankle?

Curry hurt his ankle rolling into the basket while driving to the hoop. He finished with 15 points on 5-for-18 shooting in 29 minutes of play, missing four of his first five 3-point attempts and going 1 for 7 from the field to put Golden State behind 63-59 at the half. A few minutes into the third quarter, Curry made his first field goal, but he was limping.

“If he is out, unfortunate, but the length of the season it’s hard to play every game especially not having any minor injuries and we’ll do well without him,” Thompson stated. “We can rely on our history and how to execute without him.”

Throughout the season, the Warriors have showed flashes of brilliance interspersed with depressing periods. Curry’s departure might really be a benefit because Thompson will be able to take up the offensive slack.
