INJURY UPDATE: Newcastle United star hit with fresh and worst injury setback.

Eddie Howe wants £3m Newcastle man to play regularly this season

Newcastle United loanee Harrison Ashby can’t catch a break at present with the Swansea City star injured again.

After suffering a new injury for Swansea City, Harrison Ashby has experienced yet another setback while on loan from Newcastle United.

Over the summer, Ashby signed a short-term contract to leave Tyneside and make way for Tino Livramento, who would take over as Kieran Trippier’s right-back reserve. His time on loan at the Swans got off to a great start, but a nasty hamstring injury forced him to miss time from the starting lineup.

Before Christmas, Ashby went back to Newcastle for treatment; however, he was sent back to Wales last month after making a strong comeback to Luke Williams’ team. But after suffering a new injury in the last few days, he will have to miss more time out.

Swansea manager Williams stated, “He has a muscular problem so he is going to be a few weeks.” “At this time, we won’t be able to pinpoint the exact time.”

Many predicted that Ashby, who arrived from West Ham United in 2023, would eventually take Trippier’s spot as Newcastle’s first-choice right-back in the future. That prediction doesn’t seem to be coming true now.

Newcastle United - Ashby joins Swansea City on loan

In the summer, Ashby will go back to Newcastle until Eddie Howe decides what to do with him. But since arriving to St. James’ Park at the beginning of the season, Livramento has made an impression, and the former Southampton player is quickly becoming a fan favourite in the northeast.

Newcastle defeated Rangers at Ibrox in their preseason match, with Ashby scoring a late winner for the home team. But after joining 13 months ago, the 22-year-old has yet to play in a competitive game under Howe.
