Injury Update: Braves triumph in the pitcher’s duel; Michael Harris II and AJ Minter’s injury updates; and more

After a gut-wrenching loss on Sunday and another significant loss to the pitching staff with AJ Minter going on the injured list on Monday, Atlanta badly needed a positive result on the field.

And while it did not happen for the first nine innings late on Monday night, the Braves finally broke through in a 1-0 win in 10 innings over the Giants in a game that truly had a playoff feel to it. Both Chris Sale and Blake Snell were amazing, putting together one of the best pitching duels in recent memory. And then both bullpens were highly effective before the game went into extra innings.

But in the tenth inning, Brian Snitker emptied his bench and Travis d’Arnaud delivered a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0, a lead that Rasiel Iglesias turned into a win with a second straight effective inning of work. As a result, the Braves were able to bounce back and start the week off on a badly needed positive note.

Another week, another significant injury for the Braves pitching staff as AJ Minter goes back to the 15-day IL with a hip injury for the second time this season.
