Alabama Crimson Tide football wide receiver Jalen Hale recently sustained a knee injury during practice, prompting new head coach Kalen DeBoer to announce on Thursday that Hale would be sidelined for the remainder of the spring practice sessions. However, the possibility of his return for the upcoming 2024 Crimson Tide season remains uncertain pending further evaluation.

DeBoer revealed, “He had a significant knee injury. He’ll be down for the spring. There’s still some evaluation that needs to take place as far as a timeline for the rest of the year.”

Hale took to social media on Thursday morning to express his gratitude to those who have extended their well wishes during this time.

Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 190 pounds, Hale, a sophomore hailing from Longview, Texas, made notable contributions to the team last season. He recorded five receptions for 148 yards and secured a touchdown. Notably, he showcased his skills with a 33-yard touchdown catch in the back of the end zone against Ole Miss, overcoming tight coverage to extend the Crimson Tide’s lead to 17-7 in a game that culminated in a 24-10 victory.

During spring practices, Hale had been vying for playing time in DeBoer’s revamped offensive scheme alongside a relatively inexperienced group of receivers, including Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice, and transfer Germie Bernard.

Alabama recently conducted its first scrimmage of the spring season, with plans to host the annual A-Day game at Bryant-Denny Stadium on April 13. As Hale’s recovery progresses and evaluations continue, the team awaits further updates on his potential availability for the upcoming season.
