Michael Carrick leaves Man Utd following Ralf Rangnick arrivalMichael Carrick has sarcastically told Thursday’s press conference that he expects to get a “warm welcome” when he takes his Middlesbrough side to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Saturday.

Both sides come into the game off the back of solid wins in midweek, Boro boasting an extra day to get their players back to 100%. Carrick watched his side smash Preston at home. Leeds beat Swansea 3-1.

Carrick‘s Boro currently sit in tenth but are climbing the table after a poor start to the season, while we returned to third place – sitting seven points behind Ipswich, and eight behind leaders Leicester City.

Of course, Carrick spent the majority of his playing career at Manchester United and that is sure to see the Leeds fans create a visceral atmosphere at Elland Road come Saturday afternoon, in a huge game.

Carrick spoke about Elland Road and the atmosphere before the game in his press conference, as per Middlesbrough’s YouTube channel. He joked that he is sure he will receive a very “warm reception”.

“No I don’t think we do [set-up differently]. Of course, you respect it for what it is and the game. I’m sure I’ll get a nice warm welcome when I go there. That’s great, that’s football, you want passion,” he said.

“Different kind of atmospheres. But us preparing for the game, it’s business as usual. I don’t worry about that side of things. It’s a good stadium, they’ve won six in a row there,” Carrick added, in his presser.
